Hi, I'm Caroline, I'm a Clinical Nutritionist and Metabolic Balance Practitioner

Nutrition is not just about food — it’s about understanding how your body is functioning and building the habits that support long-term health. Through personalised nutrition guidance, education and practical coaching, I can help you make meaningful and sustainable changes that support your health now and into the future.

I support women in managing peri-menopause and hormonal health. I also work with men and women seeking structured support for weight loss, hormonal, digestive, cardiovascular health and more. I currently work online via zoom. I'm also in the process of finding a physical clinic space in the Redlands, Brisbane.

Whether you’ve tried to “eat better” before, or you’re only just starting to think something needs to change, you’re not alone.

Sometimes everything can look fine on the outside, while underneath you’re feeling tired, stretched, or unsure how to move forward. If your health, energy, or relationship with food feels harder than it should, you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

I also work with people who feel completely healthy but have a goal of losing weight or optimising their body composition. I'll meet you where you are in your journey and together we'll be able to discuss your goals. My greatest goal is for you to feel truly heard and understood, and my deepest passion is helping you achieve lasting health and longevity.

Let's Work Together!

Let's Work Together!

My work in clinical nutrition goes beyond food! I take the time to listen carefully and piece together the clues that may explain what’s really going on with your health.

Originally from Switzerland and trained as a nurse, I completed my nutrition studies in Brisbane and founded LimeTree Nutrition. I also work part-time for the Metabolic Balance head office in Brisbane, which has given me a unique insight into the powerful results this program can achieve. I started with my own personalised Metabolic Balance plan in 2021, and it has been the foundation of my eating ever since. It supported me through my years at university as a mature-age student, helping me stay focused and energised throughout long days.

I’ve always been passionate about whole foods, cooking, and understanding how different cultures approach food and health. I enjoy spending time outdoors, tending to my small garden, and living an active lifestyle, while also recognising that everyone’s starting point is different.

Together, we build a plan that feels achievable, not overwhelming. This is a partnership.

 You bring:

  • honesty and engagement

 I bring:

  • clinical knowledge

  • structure and strategy

  • accountability

  • support when motivation dips

  • a listening ear and a deep commitment to understanding you as a whole person

FOOD IS MEDICINE! I work with the Metabolic Balance program. The Metabolic Balance program is an incredibly clever and successful whole foods program.

FOOD IS MEDICINE! I work with the Metabolic Balance program. The Metabolic Balance program is an incredibly clever and successful whole foods program.

An Introduction to the Metabolic Balance Program

Metabolic Balance is a whole-foods, science-based nutrition program developed 25 years ago and it uses individual blood markers, health history, and clinical context to create a personalised food plan. I work with the Metabolic Balance program as a structured, physiology-informed framework to support metabolic regulation, energy balance, and long-term health — with professional guidance to help translate the science into practical, sustainable changes.

The Metabolic Balance program is only ever offered by qualified health practitioners, and as a package of a food plan combined with nutritional coaching sessions.

How it works:

  • Book in for a free 10 min discovery call (optional)

  • Book in for an initial consult to talk through your health history and map out where you are today. I'll explain the Metabolic Balance program to you in detail. At this point, you won't have to go ahead with the program in case you have second thoughts. Rest assured, you'll still get plenty of insights out of your initial session.

  • When you decide to go ahead, I'll organise a referral for a specific blood test and you pay a deposit towards the package.

  • 1 week after you had your blood test done, you'll be booked in for a 1 hour appointment for the plan handout.

  • You'll receive a printed Metabolic Balance plan and lots of additional support resources. At this point you'll also book in for your follow up appointments.

  • You're ready to start!

The Four Phases of Metabolic Balance:

Phase 1: The initial nutritional preparation and detoxification phase (2 days)

Phase 2: The strict conversion phase in which you follow your personal food list (2-4 weeks)

Phase 3: The relaxed phase where additional foods are incorporated into your diet and you enjoy treat meals (a few weeks - months, depending on your health goals)

Phase 4: The health maintenance phase where you continue with your new found knowledge for ongoing health and wellbeing (this is forever - it's very achievable!)

This program teaches you how to eat in a thoroughly resetting way. Most clients will experience a big aha-moment, and feel a profound improvement of their blood sugar regulation and general wellbeing over the course of these weeks.

FAQ's

Starting something new often brings questions. Here are a few answers that may help.

Your metabolism refers to the many biochemical processes your body uses to produce energy, regulate hormones, repair tissues, and maintain overall balance. A healthy metabolism allows your body to efficiently use nutrients from food to support energy levels, stable blood sugar, hormone balance, and healthy body composition.

Over time, modern lifestyles can place strain on these metabolic processes. Poor sleep, chronic stress, highly processed foods, and long-term blood sugar imbalance can all contribute to metabolic dysfunction.

Metabolic syndrome is a term used to describe a cluster of metabolic risk factors that tend to occur together. These may include elevated blood sugar, abdominal weight gain, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, and increased inflammation. When several of these factors are present at the same time, the risk of developing conditions such as type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, and cardiovascular disease increases.

The encouraging part is that metabolic health is highly responsive to lifestyle changes. Nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management can all help restore metabolic balance over time. Programs such as the Metabolic Balance® approach focus on supporting the body’s natural metabolic regulation through personalised nutrition and structured lifestyle changes.

Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that plays a central role in regulating blood sugar and energy metabolism. After you eat, insulin helps move glucose from the bloodstream into the cells where it can be used for energy.

However, insulin does much more than simply transport sugar into cells. It also influences fat storage, hunger signals, inflammation, hormone balance, and many other metabolic processes throughout the body.

When insulin levels remain elevated for long periods — often due to frequent high-carbohydrate meals, chronic stress, poor sleep, or metabolic strain — the body’s cells can gradually become less responsive to insulin. This condition is known as insulin resistance.

When this happens, the body compensates by producing more insulin to keep blood sugar stable. Over time, persistently high insulin levels can contribute to weight gain, fatigue, cravings, fatty liver, hormonal imbalances, and increased risk of metabolic diseases.

Improving insulin sensitivity is one of the most powerful ways to support long-term health. Nutritional approaches that stabilise blood sugar and support metabolic regulation — such as the personalised Metabolic Balance® program — are designed to address this process at its core.

The microbiome refers to the vast community of microorganisms that live in and on the human body. These microbes include bacteria, fungi, and other microscopic organisms that play important roles in digestion, immune function, metabolism, and even mental wellbeing.

Different parts of the body have their own unique microbiomes. For example, the gut, skin, mouth, and vaginal environment each host distinct microbial communities that help maintain balance and protect against disease.

The gut microbiome is particularly important because it directly influences digestion, nutrient absorption, immune regulation, inflammation, and the gut-brain connection. When this ecosystem becomes imbalanced, it may contribute to digestive symptoms, metabolic dysfunction, and other chronic health concerns.

At LimeTree Nutrition, microbiome testing is currently offered for the gut microbiome through advanced stool analysis. This type of testing can help identify microbial imbalances, digestive markers, and aspects of immune function within the gastrointestinal tract.

Testing of the vaginal microbiome may also be available upon request in certain cases.

Understanding the microbiome can provide valuable insight into how your digestive system and immune system are functioning, and it can help guide personalised nutrition and lifestyle strategies to support overall health.

A microbiome or comprehensive stool test is particularly useful for individuals experiencing digestive symptoms such as constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, reflux, abdominal discomfort, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and inflammatory bowel conditions.

It can also provide valuable insights for people dealing with hormonal imbalances. The analysis includes markers such as beta-glucuronidase, an enzyme that can influence oestrogen metabolism and may contribute to oestrogen-dominant patterns.

Testing offered through Microba assesses a wide range of microbial targets alongside important digestive and immune markers. This makes it a helpful tool for individuals experiencing ongoing health concerns, including those exploring potential links with autoimmune or chronic inflammatory conditions.

Because gut health is closely connected to the gut–brain axis, imbalances in the microbiome may also influence mood and mental wellbeing. As the test is a simple stool sample, it can be completed safely across all age groups.

“Leaky gut” is a commonly used term that describes increased intestinal permeability. The lining of the small intestine is made up of tightly connected cells that act as a selective barrier. Their role is to allow properly digested nutrients to pass into the bloodstream while keeping larger particles, toxins, and microbes inside the gut where they belong.

When this barrier becomes compromised, the tight junctions between these cells can loosen. This may allow small fragments of food proteins, bacterial components, and toxins to pass into the bloodstream more easily.

When this happens, the immune system may recognise these particles as foreign and respond by activating inflammatory pathways. Over time, this increased immune activation can place additional strain on the body’s regulatory systems and may contribute to chronic inflammation in some individuals.

Because blood from the digestive tract travels directly to the liver through the portal circulation, the liver also plays a key role in filtering and detoxifying these substances. When intestinal permeability is increased, the liver may have to process a higher load of microbial and inflammatory compounds, which can add additional metabolic pressure.

Supporting gut health through nutrition, lifestyle changes, and restoring a balanced microbiome can help strengthen the intestinal barrier and support both immune and metabolic health.

The short answer is: All types of whole foods. Vegetables and lettuces, fruit, rye bread and other starchy foods such as oats or wild rice, meats (lots of different types and cuts), poultry, fish and seafood, legumes, eggs, tofu, mushrooms, milk products from cow, goat, sheep, or camel, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices, and healthy fats and oils. Oh, and lots of water. For most people, coffee and tea is also permitted.

Which foods are not included then? That's processed foods, wheat bread, and certain types of fruit with high sugar content.

Vegetarian plans can be requested, but Metabolic Balance cannot create a vegan plan.
